CSM Robert H. Cobb

Command Sergeant Major Robert H. Cobb enlisted in the U.S. Army in June 1993. He attended one station unit training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, as a 63B light wheel vehicle mechanic. He then attended Basic Airborne School and was assigned to HHC, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He then reclassed in June 1996 at Fort Knox, Kentucky, where he was awarded the MOS 19D, Cavalry Scout and returned to Fort Bragg. Before assuming duty as the 1st Armored Division Senior Enlisted Adviser, CSM Cobb served as the Train Advise Assist Command South Senior Enlisted Adviser and also served as the CSM of 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division.

Prior to this position, he served as the 82nd Airborne Division G3 Sergeant Major and the CSM for 2nd Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment. Other positions he served in include: Operations SGM, 5th Squadron, 73rd Cavalry (Airborne) and Brigade Plans SGM 1BCT, 82nd (ABN); First Sergeant, A Troop, 5th SQDN, 73rd CAV (ABN); First Sergeant, HHC, 3rd BCT, 82nd (ABN), and First Sergeant, HHC, BSTB, 3rd BCT (ABN); Platoon Sergeant, C Troop, 73rd CAV (ABN), and B Troop, 5th SQDN, 73rd CAV (ABN). Other duty stations include D Troop, 1st BN, 509th IN; D Company, 2nd HHC ACR, 1st 72nd AR; and A Troop, 1st SQDN (ABN), 17th CAV. CSM Cobb’s combat tours of duty include tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Resolute Support.

CSM Cobb’s military and civilian education includes PLDC, BNCOC, ANCOC and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 63. He is also a graduate of the following military courses: Drill Sergeant School, Emergency Medical Technician (Basic), Basic Airborne School, Air Assault School, Scout Leaders course, Advanced Airborne school (Jumpmaster), Pathfinder course, and Air Assault School. Command Sergeant Major Cobb has an associate degree in General Studies from American Military University and is currently working on completing a B.S in Homeland Security.

CSM Cobb’s awards and decorations include: the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal with Valor Device, Bronze Star Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), Army Commendation Medal with Valor Device, Army Commendation Medal (5 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (7 OLC), Korean Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal (3 CS), Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, and the NATO Medal for ISAF, Afghanistan Campaign Medal. He has also earned the Combat Action Badge, Masters Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Drill Sergeant Badge, British Parachutist Badge, Dutch Parachutist Badge, and Italian Parachutist Badge. He is a Knight in the Order of Saint George (Bronze Medallion), Order of St Maurice (Legionnaire) member of the Excellence in Armor Program, recipient of the Draper Armor Leadership Award, and was inducted as a distinguished member of the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He has earned his Silver and Gold combat spurs.
