Physical Security

The objective of the Physical Security Program is to safeguard U.S. Government property, facilities and personnel against loss, theft, damage, espionage or any other activities which threaten life, property and continuation of military operations.

The Garrison Physical Security Section falls under the Directorate of Emergency Services. The Physical Security Section works to ensure critical assets on Fort Buchanan are protected and safeguarded according to Army regulation.

The Physical Security Section also oversees the Commercial Intrusion Detection System. This is the approved security alarm system for the installation. All alarm inquiries should be submitted to the Physical Security office.

Department of the Army (DA) Security Guards
To provide courteous and complete protection to the soldiers, families, and civilians through professionalism, dedication and unwavering vigilance. Responsible to exercise and apply establish rules, regulations, and legal authorities to access control and egress, and detect trespassing violations in order to protect life and property and prevent theft, sabotage, fire, terrorism and accidental or willful damage and destruction to Fort Buchanan.  For questions regarding DA Security Guards contact:

Access control gates:

There are two Access Control Gates at Fort Buchanan.
 

THE BORINQUENEER'S GATE AND VISITOR CONTROL CENTER (VCC):

The Borinqueneers’ Gate (Road 28) USAG Fort Buchanan’s main gate, is open for operations 24 hours, 7 days a week. 
All trucks will use The Borinqueneers Gate to enter and exit the installation.
The Visitor Control Center (VCC) is located at The Borinqueneers’ Gate Monday thru Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. tele: (787) 707-3995. 
 

 SPC FRANCES M. VEGA GATE:

Spc. Frances M. Vega Gate is open Monday to Friday from 6 am to 9 a.m. inbound and outbound. Monday thru Friday OUTBOUND ONLY from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. It is closed weekends and all Federal Holidays.  Access through this gate is for Common Access Card (CAC) holders and persons with valid installation access credentials.
