Deputy Garrison Commander Lieutenant Colonel Sean K. Cook

LTC Sean K. Cook commissioned in the Finance Corps from Georgia Military College in 2002. Through 2005, he served as a Platoon Leader in the Florida Army National Guard. In 2006, he was selected to fill a joint assignment as a Financial Data Analyst for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service at Fort Ord, CA and Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN. In 2008, he was assigned to the United States Army Financial Management Command. Therein, he served as the Deputy Disbursing Officer for Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC (2008) and the Officer in Charge of the Defense Military Pay Offices at Fort Bragg, NC (2009) and Joint Base San Antonio, TX (2010). In 2012, he was assigned to the 13th Financial Management Support Center at Fort Hood, TX and shortly thereafter, he was stationed at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait as the Theater Banking and E-commerce Officer for CENTCOM. While there, he forward deployed to Afghanistan. In 2013, he returned to command Bravo Company, 3-85th Mountain Infantry Warrior Transition Battalion at Fort Drum, NY. In 2014, he served as the G-8 Branch Chief for the 412th Theater Engineer Command (TEC) in Vicksburg, MS. Following this assignment, LTC Cook attended resident Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS and the Defense Comptrollership Program at Syracuse University. Thereafter, he served as the Deputy Director for the United States Army Reserve Command (USARC) G-1 Resource Management Office, Senior Program Analyst for the Office of the Chief Army Reserve - Program Analysis & Evaluation staff, Executive Officer for the Army Reserve Chief Financial Officer, and Director of Financial and Resource Management for OUSD(P&R). LTC Cook currently serves as the Deputy Garrison Commander at Fort Buchanan in Puerto Rico.

LTC Cook earned a bachelor’s from Florida State University, as well as an MBA and Executive MPA from Syracuse University. He also received a certificate of advanced study from Syracuse University for Leadership in International and Non-Governmental Organizations. LTC Cook is an Army War College Strategic Studies Graduate, a Certified Defense Financial Manager, has attained his Financial Management certification, and he is an Analytic Cost Expert for the U.S. Army Reserve Command. LTC Cook is also published in the Armed Forces Comptroller Journal, he is a StartingBloc Fellow and guest speaker for a Leadership/Mentoring nonprofit.

Of LTC Cook’s awards, he is most proud of his National Resource Management Award from the Assistant Secretary of the Army, Financial Management & Comptroller.

LTC Cook is married to Maritza Cook and they have four children.
