History

Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) was activated in March 2006 as part of the reactivation of the 19th Engineer Battalion. The company was designated as part of the first modular engineer battalion in the history of the United States Army. The company conducted training operations until August 2006 when they deployed to Northern Iraq. The company was located in Tikrit, Iraq at Contingency Operating Base Speicher from August 2006 until November 2007.

Upon return from Iraq in November 2007, the company began to conduct training, processed soldiers for changing their duty station, and received new soldiers. Over the next eighteen months, the company facilitated the readiness of her sister companies in the Battalion. Until, in spring of 2009 the organization again deployed. This time, the HHC was operating from south-west Asia at Kandahar Air Field (KAF), Afghanistan, in support of theater engineering operations. It was a long year before the company was to redeploy back to Fort Knox, KY. From April 2010 to the present, the company has been supporting the CONUS operations for the Seahorse Battalion.
